EEA 38 Super Auto

Old 454

New member
I was able to pick up an old 1993 EAA 38 Super Auto with compensator and old true Glo site with pickatiny rail for a couple hundred bucks.

Gun is built like a tank it’s a large frame so the are conversions in 10mm 45acp and 9mm
I will keep it in 38 Super as they take the same projectile as a 9mm .355

I kinda think of it as a 9mm magnum if there was ever one lolol

What’s all you opinion ?

Love the Super!
Had a couple 1911's in .38.
Great cartridge for handloading, I used jacketed bullets anywhere from .355" to .357".

Don't know much about EAA's, would love to see a pic.

The EAA Witness is a CZ75 clone made by Tangfolio in Italy. Pretty decent gun and for $200, a steal. I'd love to find that kind of a deal, especially in 38 Super.

There is a 9MM Magnum, but I don't think your pistol can take it. However a 9MM barrel and magazine will let you double your shooting pleasure. You got a good deal.

I would post a pic but this damn forum for what ever reason won’t let me post a pic

9mm mag would be to long, you would have to have a Automag/Grizzly/Wildey sized frame to do 9mm mag, however you could probably convert your EEA 38 Super to 9×23mm Winchester and/or 9×25mm though.

Great calibre the .38 super!
I am happy with the 9mm! So is most of the rest of the world! The hype of the majic bullet is alive and well! It matters little. Any of the Police Duty calibres work well.
PLACEMENT! Where you put that bullet is what counts most. A double tap upper central chest is reasonable! The Cowboys favorite, between the eyes works a street. But you have to be real close! Think of how the human body responds to bullet inscursion!
If the heart is stopped instantly, by 147g hollow point. The pressurized blood pressure is good for 5-10 seconds. Quite enough to empty a Glock 19, just need the will.
That same round plowing into the brain, a different story. Any handgun round is far less effective than say a 3000 FPS 5.56 out of an AR 15. Hitting the center of the body from 50M! You play the cards you are dealt.

I like the Super, and have owned and reloaded for a succession of Supers since the early '70s. I think it best demonstrates it's ballistic advantage over the 9MM with the 147 and heavier bullets. With well supported ramped barrels, hand loads with 147 grain bullets at 1250+ FPS and 124/125s at 1450 FPS are easily achievable with the Super.

As BRIT implies, does a magic bullet, or perhaps magic velocities, really matter for self defense in the real World? Maybe not, but I still enjoy the old Super. Have to admit though, if absolutely forced to choose, I'd have to go with the World favorite 9MM. In fact some of my Supers have been convertible to 9MM;)

rock185. Federal HST 147g 9mm is what I carry. 16 of them in my Glock 19 4th Gen?
Happiness. Oh and a G17 spare!
