Ed Brown Parts

On my basement gunsmithing project . Started with the Wilson Combat Deluxe Combat Commander Hammer , Main Hammer Spring , Firing Pin Spring , Recoil Spring , Sear , Disconnect and sear spring . All Standard weights . It's a Government Model so the Hammer didn't work out without changing the grip safety or modifying it . The sear and disconnected had to be fitted , turned out to be the sear so used the original sear . Did all the safety checks worked .great .

Ordered the Ed Brown sear , disconnector , sear spring and their SS Pin kit just to have . Didn't do anything to the sear or disconnector only had to bring out the right leg on the sear spring to operate the grip safety better . The sear and disconnector worked perfect the hammer has a neutral fall at 3 1/2 even though the sear spring feels stronger . Only a range gun . Also changed the barrel bushing , even though the collet bushing that came with the gun had no problems , I read a few articles on the legs breaking so I have it boxed up with all the original parts .

I was kind of disappointed the W C parts didn't work as good as EB replacement parts . Live and learn , anyway it was a fun trip . Now I love shooting my Colt Service 70 MK IV Government Model 45 ACP as much as my Colt New Agent 3"er.

Thanks Gary for answering , for the person that wants to get a better understanding on how the 1911 functions without getting into real gunsmithing , Ed Brown are as close to drop in parts then most . Thought it may help for people like me .

CW308,
Thanks for the write up!
I'm shooting a Springfield Armory Milspec Champion.
Found slide cracked one day.
Sent into Springfield, they replaced slide, sights, link and bushing.
Sights are much better than the originals.
They installed their version of the barrel bushing. Hated it!
You had to hold the slide back against the spring pressure to take apart/ put together.
I got an Ed Brown barrel bushing, EGW spring retainer cap. Installed drop in
Now it comes apart/ goes together like a 1911 should!
