East St Louis IL named "most dangerous US city"...

A new media report says East Saint Louis IL tops the "100 most dangerous US cities" list. :rolleyes:
This isn't a big surprise but I would not think the city would be #1.
Interestingly, smaller US communities like Camden NJ, Harrisburg PA & Hartford CT were higher than larger cities.

I work near Harrisburg PA and it is a dump. Front street by the river is nice with the restaurants, just don't get caught there after dark really and definitely do not leave front street. People are always getting shot and all sorts of ridiculousness goes on there. The only time I go there is to go to Bass Pro, just don't venture into the mall part that its attached too....
 
YES the RR yard there is a place you do NOT want to be there after dark! IT is BAD in the day lite!
 
If you end up there by mistake the local police are very quick to get you out of there by escort. I know this from personal experience. That said , some of the best topless clubs are located there.

I don't have the exact link but there are several media sites with the news story.

It's wierd to me how some urban areas can have decent, upscale neighborhoods or big estates then, 2/3 blocks away be or look like total third world messes.

Downtown Orlando FL can get like that at night. I wouldn't go down there after 700pm without a CCW, ;) .
 
I live about 15 mins away from "East Saint" (as it's not-so-affectionately called), and while I don't find myself there often, it's probably the number one reason I'm glad we finally have concealed carry here in Illinois.
