I saw this one at the LGS the other day, liked it, so I picked it up. I had a similar one years ago, and it was a good shooter.
It's a Taurus Model 80, a more or less "copy" of the Smith & Wesson Model 10. Not a clone, the action is different I understand. I know the Taurus has a coil mainspring, what other differences there may be I have no idea.
Basically a K-frame size, with a 4" barrel, and fixed sights, with magna style grips. The trigger, hammer, and trigger guard have different profiles from the Model 10.
Along the topstrap, on the ears of the rear sight grove, there are a series of small cuts that run crossways to the sight. In the trough of the sight, and in the cylinder flutes, there are lengthways groves. I suppose they break up light on the sights, but I suspect they're mostly decorative. There are four screws in the sideplate, and one in front of the trigger guard, in the same position you'll find them on a Smith & Wesson "5-screw" model. (NOTE: I am not saying it is as "good as a Smith & Wesson, but the similarities are obvious).
It also had the original box and a nylon cleaning brush, but no papers. The Taurus website doesn't show anything for this S/N (806XXX) but the good folks on the Taurus website tell me late 70's. I believe it's been fired, and it will be again.
