Was in the LGS the other day and got to fondle an EAA Witness P in 9mm. I have heard some good things about this gun, but mostly with the tag line of "...for the money." I know all about it being made by Tanfoglio and the CZ inspired roots. So, is it a great gun for the money or a straight up great gun?

I like mine a lot, just that it doesn't get shot anymore ever since I picked up my new CZ's. If I didn't have those, I would definitely consider the Witness for EDC. It is very comfortable to shoot, all of the controls are within easy reach without shifting my grip on the pistol, and it has a very good pronounced sight picture.

I have a Witness Match and it is a great gun. It is far superior to any other 9mm I have fired. Accuracy and reliability are outstanding. I have put many thousands of hand loads through mine without any problems. It is a heavy, all steel pistol and also very attractive in appearance. Mine always gets a lot of attention when I bring it out to the range.

I have the .45 full with 4.5" barrel. If you want a 10+1 .45 you can actually carry. This is the one. Very accurate and no ammo has failed yet. Not one failure in about 1200 rounds.

I have a small frame 9mm polymer witness. I like the gun a lot. My only issue with it would be the sights. The front sight is a machined part of the slide. If you want to go with night sights or fiber optic you would be machining and refinishing the slide.

I purposely stayed away from this thread for a bit to see what would be said, if anything, in regards to the EAA Witness P. I see that a slim majority feel it is a great gun, not just for the price. So with that said, Since my wife has once again restricted my budget, this gun is on my radar. One LGS has them regularly for $350 plus tax, (or lower) for the full size. Is it worth it?

Yes.... Are you in North Richland Hills? LGS there has these all day for $339. There are three Witness P. The Full, the Carry and the Compact. Full is big frame and long slide (4.5"), good luck finding one. The Carry is big frame and short slide (3.6"), the most common. The Compact is small frame and short slide, not as pretty with slide ending at frame. There is an even smaller rounded slide version called the Pavona, but those have kitschy frame colors and are marketed to women. $350 is about the typical range for the Carry version and low for the Compact and Full versions. I have seen Pavonas at gun shows for around $275.

Wow... I guess I am lucky. All my shop has are the FS models. Might be jumping on it when my Bride finally releases the money for me.
