EAA Witness Conversion Kit Fit

I have a question on a Witness conversion kit. I have a large frame steel witness .45 it had the compact slide on it. I wanted to put a long-slide conversion kit on it. However assembled the slide sits too far to the rear (about 1/4"). Could you point me in the right direction of what to try to get this conversion kit working?

IIRC what you seem to have, is a conversion kit for a poly witness, not for a steel frsme.
