Are the Witness CZ clones any good I saw some at a gun show yesterday and I realy like that compact, I'll get a CZ compact if I can find one but I realy like the finish (stainless ??) and the extended beavertail. But I don't want to waste my money.

You'll get mixed reviews here.
I've got a full-sized carry comp. in .45acp and except for the fact that it won't feed SWC's I have had no problems. I've probably put close to a thousand rounds through it, it's plenty accurate and fits my hand well. Price was hard to beat too.

Witness makes a pretty good gun, but most of them have crappy triggers.

The triggers can be made better through gunsmithing or shooting, but it may take a long time.

(I swapped into a Witness Sport Long Slide .45 last year. Had a gunsmith who's usually pretty darned good work on it. It still had a CRAPPY trigger. Tried selling it, and couldn't. Took it home and started dry firing it. About 3000 trigger pulls later its turned into a nice shooting gun. Invariably reliable and accurate. Slowly becoming my favorite .45 -- even though I have a very nice custom 1911.)

If you can find one for a good price, go for it -- but expect to spend a little time or money getting a trigger you can stand.

Well I have to add in the bad side on the reviews. I had a full size Witness .45 that was complete and utter crap. If it didn't jam it threw the brass at my eyes. That and the front sight kept coming loose.

They are decent for the money type guns.

If you can do you own basement gunsmithing, they are fine.

Lots of 10mm shooter like their all steel full sized Witnesses. And that is not mixed.

In the big scheme of things, you get more out of them for what you pay. some very knowledgeable gun stores own them.

AND what do you expect out of a $350 gun?

Take a look at them.. Most are good guns and the trend seems that if it isnt a good one, you will know soon. Most problems are
apparent from the beginning. The triggers smooth themselves out after a while..If you find one you like...go for it! shoot well

I have an older version of the Witness, the TZ-75 Series88. After replacing the recoil spring with a lighter spring, it was 100% reliable and accurate. I agree with the poor trigger, lots of creep before it breaks!

Was just comparing my Witness to my P95 Ruger. Creep on the Witness is a whole bunch less, trigger breaks at 3.75 lbs compaired to 4.5 on the Ruger.
Your results may vary.

I must have got a gem because my full size .45 shoots great, is reliable(1200+ rds), has a smooth DA trigger with virtually no creep on SA, nice clean break.

My 10mm seems to shoot at least as well as I can, but my wife's 9mm shot 18" low and left, every single time.

We ran about 400 rounds of fairly hot soft lead through it and it brought it in line. I suppose it smoothed out some kind of imperfection in the chamber or barrel. Kind of like bore lapping but different

My Wonderfinish .40S&W Witness compact is a comfortable handgun. It's accurate as any of my other toys and ranks high on my list for ergonomics. If it didn't jam every magazine, I would really like it. However, the only reliable thing about my EAA is how reliable it fails to feed.

I have a PS .40 with polymer frame and wonderfinish.Very accurate and feeds anything I put thru it.Most accurate .40 I have ever shot.

Witness semi-autos are a real mystery.Either you get one that will be the most flawless gun you ever owned,or a boat anchor.I could never figure that one out.

My local shop had both the EAA witness and a CZ75B. There was $60 difference between the two, and the counter guy kept telling me they were IDENTICAL guns, and that there was no difference at all between the two. (I knew better already thanks to TFL).

I asked if I could dry fire both, and did... the difference between the triggers was HUGE, and IMHO, the CZ was worth the extra $$$. I handed it back to the guy, and he tried to act surprised that there was such a difference.

Of course, there's no CZ in 10mm...

I am one of many that wishes CZ would make a compact .45 available. The CZ 97 is a huge gun for CCW. The CZ 100 is tempting. But I want a compact .45 in the CZ form. Hey CZ, you hearing me?:(

I've owned 3 witness's,2 45's and the 10mm compact.all 3 worked fine with decent trigger pulls, accurate and reliable.the only drawback were the price of magazines.

I bought a Witness 10mm thinkin' it was the answer to my prays in the 10mm market place.....wrong Parker breath! It wasn't anymore than a mediocre, run of the mill, jammomatic $350 dollar mass producted pistol.
Thanks, but I'll pass on the Witness line of pistols.
