EAA Shotgun questions

I got one of these the other day in nearly new condition. I've heard several people talking about tuing their shotguns. What exactly is involved with this? I've heard of polishing the barrels so the empties fall out easier, but what else?

Is there something I can do so that it will break open a little easier?

Thanks for the help.

You can polish the chambers with steel wool on a dowel rod in your drill. As far as making it break open easier had my Baikal taken to the gunsmith and he shortened the cocking rods and springs. Much much better. After a good look at the internals of a side by side shotgun, I decided that this was a job for the pros.

Howdy,

The EAA's I've handled had very strong springs in them. Besides polishing the hinge area to smooth it out, cutting the factory springs or replacing them with lighter springs will make the most difference.

Thanks for the help. Guess I get to make a trip to the gunsmith. Sounds like the work that needs to be done is beyond my skill.
