EAA Pistols...Good or Bad

Kentucky Rifle

Hi Friends,
My father in law is thinking of getting a new .45. He likes the looks (and price) of the EAA. Are they any good?
I'd appreciate some opinions.

Thanks,
Will

Mendacity is the system we live in.

WLM,
I recently purchased a Witness .45 full size and have been impressed. Tanfoglio makes the Witness, European American Armory is their distributor here in the U.S. I have read mixed things about their pistols, but my experience and that of my shooting friends is nothing but excellent. I email Tanfoglio with questions I have, as EAA customer service, in my experience, is marginal at best. I believe the Witness is a great buy for the money. Good shooting. Mike

I have the 45 full size steel frame with the Wonder Finish. I am very satisfied with the gun. It shoots right to point of aim with 230 fmj rounds. I have no problem keeping all shots in the 3" black area at 33' at the club I belong to. 2 other shooters tried it last night, and they did just as well. Mine was $309.00. If you get what you pay for, I think this gun should sell for twice that much.

I only have experience with their 9mm. However, it was very accurate and very durable. Has your Father In Law considered the new CZ 45? The CZ line is very similiar to the EAA pistols. Some might say that the EAA are copies of the CZ. Or visa versa.

They may just be one of the big "sleepers" on the market. I have heard nothing but good reports on them.

I have a .45 compact with compensated barrel. The gun is a breeze to shoot and surprisingly accurate. I paid $299 for mine and it was worth every penny.

I not sure I can agree with EAA making
a (quality) gun, i purchased a 22cal
bounty hunter and while its looks and
feels heavy it fails to work often and
has been returned for service twice. In
approx. 40 years of gun buying "you get
what you pay for" still stands true.
For what it's worth I think it is better
to stick with "name brand" and pay the
price.

I bought a full sized carry comp in .45 today, if it't not raining tomorrow I'll be at the range and post how it went. The magazine I got only holds 8 rounds, thought it was supposed to be 10?

Took my new Carry Comp .45 to the range this morning, happy to report it functioned perfectly. Went through 70 rounds without a problem, some cheap Mexican manufactured stuff (Aguila, dealer tossed in for free with the gun) and a box of Win. silver tips. Had to go back to the dealer before going out, my 10 round magazine would only take 8. We tried another he had for sale, it would only take 8 rounds also. Pulled another mag from a gun on the shelf and it held the required 10. One thing about the Aguila ammo - really soft brass, most fired cases were dented at the mouth and it was easy to dent the cases when loading them into the mag. None of the Winchester brass showed the same signs. Also seems to be a little inconsistant in power. Most empties landed 5-8 feet away but a few of them hit me in the face. Don't think I'll be reloading the Aguila brass!

Some of my friends own the EAA Witness in .45acp. They are very impressed. I have plans of getting one in a .40 cal. Yes they are copies of the CZ brand.
