EAA Balkai ?

I've seen EAA offer the Balkai 3 1/2 in. semi-auto 12 ga. for around $350. Guns & Ammo tested it and liked it but they like anything that advertises with them. Gun Tests did a trial with it flawlessly, but maybe they got lucky with a good gun. Everything else EAA has put out seems to be poor quality. Anyone own one?

This won' t be much help, but my Baikal IZH-18 is a great break action 12 gauge.I like the Baikals and am considering one of their side by side 28" barrel 12 gauges.EAA's Windicator revolvers are fine guns and underrated.

I have handled a few in various gauges. They are solid but crude.

If you want a gun for the field or the occasional clays outing they are fine. But they will never be confused with a good Parker or Purdy.

My only concern would be parts availablilty, although at $350 it might be cheaper to replace the gun than fix it.

You won't see these guns on the winners stand at the ATA or NSSF or NSCA nationals.

I was actually looking at one of the side-by-side coach models.... Are they any good? Could you still use one for very informal trap shooting? Or would the barrel be too short?

Baikal

Well, I looked at the Baikal IZH 27 when it was on sale for $350 and walked out the door with one. The floor model was a pretty stiff to lock up but mine was looser. The walnut is decent and the stock to metal finish appeared as good as the Red Label. I have only shot about 10 boxes through it and it seems to work and pattern just fine. A piece of art, it's not but is O.K.

As I understand from a source that can't remember, a Baikal shotgun has won an Olympic gold medal. True?

The Baikal IZH 133 pump was on sale for $170. The finish seems on par with the Express and can take 2 3/4", 3"and 3 1/2" shells interchangably and has chrome lined barrel plus walnut wood.

I haven't seen a post from anyone who has purchased either the IZH 133 or 153.

Whats nice about Baikals, is they all handle steel shot, have machined steel receivers and hammer forged barrels.Thats rare today,at least in a shotgun thats affordable to the average working stiff!

I have a deluxe one with beautiful walnut and silver engraved. Works well and is my hunter but it's heavy. Works best on hard shots but I have missed some easy ones - but that is probably from lifting my head and not the gun.:D
Am switching to Browning 28 ga. and Rutten described elsewhere.
