Tried to list a free float handguard on e-bay. apparently it violates their firearms policy because it could go on an a so called assault rifle..... its a flipping hand guard.....

There's plenty of them listed there, look at one of them and copy their description. You have to get creative and use their policies against them!

I sell alot on ebay. You will get flagged if you mention anything classified by the state of california as an "assault weapon". For instance you could list a single point sling that "fits modern sporting rifles" but can't specifically list something that fits "AR-15, AK-47, FAL, Pistol Caliber Carbine" etc. etc. Even if it's a general part.

True some sellers seem to get away with this, but not forever. There's a team somewhere looking at new listings to see if they violate policy. Eventually a violation will get picked up and removed.

Free float handguards may be classified as a "Barrel Shroud" so that terminology might also be a non-no.

Scratch calling something "Modern Sporting Rifle" or "MSR". I think that's no longer an acceptable term on ebay.

Just list it as "X Brand X" Free Float Rail"

You'll need to be very general in your terminology. The people looking for it should pick up on it.

On a separate note, Paypal also defaults to California law. So if something is illegal to sell/transfer in CA, Paypal can/will/might suspend your account. This usually comes up with the sale of gun and gun parts. If you sell a gun on gunbroker, it's not advisable to accept Paypal as a form of payment.
