will it hold up on moving parts like the bolt on a bolt or the tube on an older shotgun. both guns will be sandblaster before refinish. is there a better spray on finish?

The spray-on/bake-on Gunkote is reported to be better on wear surfaces.

Can't sy myself from experience.

There are other spray/bake finishes out there too. If you don't insist on doing it your self, the electroless nickel finishes like NP3 are supposed to be great.

As mentioned, you have to let it cure completely before really putting it to too much use. I have done around ten guns with DuraCoat, and you simply cannot put them straight to use. However, its all irrelevant if you don't do the proper prep work before applying the finish.

I try and let mine sit at least three weeks on moving parts. Be aware, though, that the finish can be too thick for tight tolerances, and will affect parts fitting together. I did a Remington 788 several months ago and the results were very good. The bolt has not started showing any wear with repeated cycling, and looks to be holding up pretty well.
