Durability of guns

I am just wondering if I am alone in my desire to own very durable and longlasting handguns. The first criteria I now consider when looking for a gun is a steel frame. It is hard to find many good autos with steel frames these days. Doesn't anyone else want them? I know polymer will hold up to use, but even the best polymers degrade slightly each day. I would love to buy a Ruger P97 with a steel frame, but I know that will never happen. Kahr might come out with one though. Anybody hear anything from them on their .45 project?

IMO, today's polymer guns will outlast us and our offspring, given proper care. Kahr has said nothing regarding the development of a .45, as far as I know. Such a gun would be the next logical step for this company, but that's what concerns me. :) Please, if you are privy to any other contrary info, let us know!

I spoke with Kahr several months ago and they kinda indicated a .45 was being developed, but of course they didn't come right out and give details.

Personally Gentlemen any gun will outlast us with the proper care and usage,Some just a little better then others IMHO :)

Any mechanical device will wear out. Most of us will never shoot a gun enough to wear out (beyond parts replacement repair) anything even reasonably well made. More guns are ruined by abuse (tinkering, mostly), than by wear.
