I dura baked my AO 1911 slide Parker. It has been pulled out of the holster about 50,000 times so i thought id return her to her original glory. but when i compleated the project the finish looked like it had "craters" from the moon all over it. color was fine, the durability is great, but my pistol has a textured slide now! the Durabake was the arisol in a can spray on stuff. any ideas why it did this? ill see if i can figure out how to post some pictures on here this evening

I believe this is called fish eye, it is due to contamination, like oil that was soaked into the metal and leeched out during the baking.

That would indeed be a preperation issue . When you think you have it degreased , degrease it again . I have found that heating the metal when degreasing works well , thins out the crap so it can be flushed out !
