I have ben looking into a new leupold 4.5x14x50 tactical scope.
for a 308. I shoot paper at 100 to 200 yards, and might use the gun to hunt with also. which rectical would be the best?
Thanks for all opinions. Jeff

Since your primary use is going to be paper punching, I'd go with the fine duplex which will still be usable for hunting with the possible exception of very low light conditions. IMHO

The standard duplex stands out very well against a target and also against brush in the backround if you are going to be hunting. It will also give you a bit more shooting time at dusk. If you are going with the tactical model as you say have you looked at the mildot reticle? I have one in my leupold vxIII 4.5-14x40 tactical, the posts are the same as a standard duplex plus you get the added bonus of being able to range targets. (with a little math)

Good Luck

My vote's for mildot as well. It's a bit more cluttered, but with practice, you've got a great sight and a ranging tool, all in one. Although you only punch paper at 1-200 yards now, there's always the chance you'll want to do more.
