Dumbest thing today, so far...

I read the same article on the front page of Wall Street Journal. They surprised me with the apparent attempt to link
(1) Stolen guns (makes gun shops a victim)
(2) Gun store security
(3) Supplying criminals with guns.

Somehow I got the impression that WSJ's staff writer Barrett was still saying that Gun Stores that suffer theft are responsible for the criminal use of the guns, even though he tried to sound objective.

This bothers me and I think should bother us:
(1) Clinton wants to give BATF more power to regulate gun stores. His first effort failed. He will try again.
(2) Gun theft victims are responsible for the criminal use of their guns.

Are they proposing that Legitimate gun owners shall be held liable if their home is invaded and robbed then their stolen property gets used by criminals to commit crimes? How can such sentiment be allowed to propagate? The fact that we have to register our weapons means criminals can single out gun owners from public record. (CCW too) The criminals target the gun owners for robbery, sells the stolen property, and some other criminal uses the stolen gun to commit a crime. Now the victim of that crime can sue the first gun owner?

This is an outrage! At this stage the media seem to be targeting large gun outlets. Taking advantage of the Big Evil Stores mentality. Targeting individual owners won't be far.

We need the NRA to gain the help of AARP and apply pressure on any media company that propagates this kind of insidious anti-gun-owner propaganda!

Gentlemen and Ladies, where do I start?

p.s. I will email a copy of the article to you if you email me a request.

yy, that's already the law in several places. If a criminal steals your guns and kills someone with them, YOU are held responsible.

Became the law in Illinois at the start of the year, unless you can prove the gun was "secured."
I don't remember the exact standard of "secured" (like most IL laws, it's pretty ambiguous) but I do know that dad's guns didn't qualify. They're in their own room with barred windows and doors, deadbolt door, and a motion-detecting alarm, but once you get past all that they're loose on the shelf and that doesn't count as secured.

(If you're wondering, we're not nuts--the place was built to be a gunshop and we kept it after we went out of business.)

The court hereby sentences you for the failure to secure your vehicle with a tire boot, thus causing the thieves to feel pressured into stealing it, thus causing the death of the children struck in the intersection...

??? What's wrong with this picture?
