Dumb Question, but I need to ask!

Hello,

I just received a new S&W 4 inch model 19-5 from an Auction Arms bid. I bought a "Kleen Bore" Steel cleaning kit for it, and I am very impressed with it. With it came an accessory I have never used, a plastic "Muzzle Guard". What is the proper way to employ this? Sorry if this is a no brainer! Thanks!!!

Muzzle guard keeps the cleanin rod from touching the bore, specially at the crown/bore interface. Most 19s are tackdrivers and the guard can help you keep it that way.

Nice gun, I prefer the earlier ones with counterbore but that's personal.....never met a 19 I didn't like.

Makes sense. Do you keep the guard right at the muzzle crown or at the end of the rod? Im not sure the proper way to use it. Thanks.

The guard goes over the end of the muzzle so that the rod won't bugger up the crown as it is inserted.
