Dukes revolver...

I swear I've never watched an entire episode of Dukes of Hazzard, but today I happened upon it while grazing and noticed that the revolver that the guy in the uniform (Roscoe??) had was plugged at the muzzle with something white. Is it just me or is that how it always has been ? You know it's a slow day here in Florida when you get questions like that.

The Dukes was a hodg-podge as far as weapons. The early DOH episodes armed the HCSO with S&W M10s. The later first season weapons turned into M15s/M19s. The later weapons turned into a tour of James Bests' collection. There were even Colt SAAs in a B western double rig from his early western career. Colt wanted to be on TV too and provided MK5 series revolvers. These were used to arme the bad guys. Roscoe used OEM walnut, smooth and bark ivory grips and stag grips mostly. He did use a nickel M10 with pearl grips and a 2' RB revolver in one episode. Enos seemed to favour S&W M15s. AFAIK, all other HCSO weapons shown were S&W M10s and M15s. In the early episodes there were shotguns shown mounted vertically. They were Remington 870s AFAIK. I always liked Roscoe Purvis Coltranes' Rolls Royce police car.

Oops! The muzzle plugs were to be blacked out. They were plugged barrels that were "safe" to point at people or wave around. The prop guy simply forot to use a Marks-A-Lot to cover the white muzzle plug. A prop revolver could vary from a genuine S&W, a rubber revolver, a plugged replica, a candy revolver that is edible and foil castings that are crushable.
