Anybody own a DSA AR? I was looking into to their uppers and wanted to find out a little more from owners. Please don't try to sell me on another upper by other manufacturers. I just want to know if DSA uppers shoot well and are reliable.

Thank you.

I don't have one, but the the Double Star Service rifle (for service rifle matchs, NRA/CMP/EIC matches) was recommended as a great way to get into the game without going all Rock River, White Oak, or Compass Lake. I haven't looked at any other offerings from Double Star, but I trust the folks who recommended it.

So take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks Jimro.

DS Arms manufactures mostly FN FAL, but also have some AR components they sell. The price for a carbine upper half (no bolt carrier group or charging handle) is $275. If you have one I'd love to hear from you.

By the time you get the bolt/carrier group, you are in the same price range as the other entry level uppers (for instance, Del-Ton is $395 complete). So, unless you have the BCG already, not much savings. But never heard any complaints about the DS Arms uppers.

I looked at their website and I'm still clueless with what DS stands for.

Anyway, they state they are a contractor for M16, M2, M203 components. I was hoping someone here had experience with their product.

Thank you.:)

I have an 16" midlength fluted upper that has become a favorite and a 20" fluted upper that may have to go back as the rear sight is all the way to the left and the rifle is barely centered in the bullseye. Looks like the barrel was overtorqued as the front sight tower is canted slightly. I emailed DSA on saturday so I am waiting to hear back when they open. Both are as accurate as any other AR I own or have owned. The Midlength has been flawless and the 20" has only had 2 failures to feed in approx 200 rounds. I attribute this to 1. New rifle breakin and 2. using silver bear steel cased ammo. No problems ever with brass cased ammo. The 16" is a 1 in 9 twist with the nitrided finish and the 20" is a 1 in 7 with a nitrided finish.

I would buy again.

I have the chromed line M4 version on mine...no problems. Accuracy is good and will cycle the steel case ammo fine if you swap out the chamber every 200rds.

I don't know what DS stands for either, but since I don't care it didn't stop me from buying one of their FALs.

Great gun, no problems, nice fit and finish. In the FAL community DSA is rated the #1 U.S. manufacturer, and one of the best worldwide, which is saying something since the FAL design has been copied around the world.

I don't have one of their AR style rifles but if they make them the way they make their FALs I'd say go for it.
