DSA STG 58 Questions

I'm giving serious consideration to buying the STG 58. What is the difference between a TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 receiver? Which one should I get? I can get one through a dealer for a bit under $900 seems like a decent deal? How does the STG compare against the SA M1A ?

Functionally, the type 1/2/3 are the same. The difference is mainly in the pattern of lightening cuts. If I recall, the T2 omitted some of the internal lightening cuts (corrections?).

For me, the difference between the M1A and the FAL is mainly that of taste. I kinda like the evil black rifle.

The "Authentic Austrian" STG-58 DSA is selling for $795 dealer price. Find an ffl to do the transfer and save some dough. You might want to wait untill the dust over the muzzlebrake is cleared.

If you want a fun gun to burn surplus 308 in the STG is probably better. If you may want to shot high power someday the M1A is proabbly a better choice.

Yeah Wait it out I just got one 3 weeks ago and I might have to send it back. I got a letter in the mail from my Dealer and I have to call DSA tomorrow. The BATF doesn't like the muzzle brakes and they are recalling them.
