DSA STG-58 "Kit Gun"

Oh my.

I just got mine. This thing is...wow. Very nice. As it is my first autoloading rifle (military style or otherwise), I can't really compare it anything except what I've handled in gun shops and borrowed from friends. It also has not yet been shot. Those caveats aside:

Fit and finish seem nice. Not perfect, but this is a military arm, fer cryin out loud. No obvious blemishes, dings, scrapes or misalignments. It is all an even charcoal grey, with no rust or any wear. The handle, handguard, PG and stock are a slightly darker black than the rest of the gun. If they included any used parts, I sure can't find them. The bore looks like a mirror.

This thing is *big* :D Right now she's a little nose-heavy, what with a bipod and empty magazine and all. The balance and feel will take some adjustment- I'm used to shotguns. Still...wow. nice gun. If this is what DSA puts out for a 'parts gun,' I wonder what their 'top of the line' product is like.

Thanks for all who answered my silly questions over the past 6 months. Now, one more:

Magazines: I know they are plentiful. Best place to buy?

Thanks!
Mike

i got my last few from burn's brothers and AIM, about $7 each back in dec of '99...had the beat the CA ban.

i have mags from both the austrian and portagese, austrian ones had a nicer finish with light wear, portagee ones were new(or well refinished). the only caution is to insure that they are "metric"

get lots, they're cheap now...i bought 20 just b4 the ban

Try to pick up a few aluminum mags. I paid about $18 each when I bought mine, anything under $25 is a good price.

You won't believe how light they are.

thermold mags

if your like somthing really rugged...thermold (company that makes mags for the canadian army) makes a fal mag...adds another american made part to your gun
