After cleaning a folding knife, what type lube would be best for keeping the action slick as a whistle to open, yet not gunk up? Dry Lube? What type? No lube at all? Thanks.
I use Eezox for my guns and knives lubrication. It goes on wet but once it dries it provides both long lasting lubrication and protection. IMHO a superior product.
Knives are steel so I use a small amount of Break Free or WD after cleaning a folder with soap and water. Seems to work OK. As a silly reference I have a old switchblade I got in Tijuana in the 60's as a teenager that it has worked ok on. A better one would be a Buck 110 from the 70's. The Buck has been used and washed hunderds of times. Neither is rusty, or gunked up.
For several years, I've been using Silkolene, a lubrication product made for motorcycle chains. It is in a spray can, goes on wet, but dries to a waxy finish that doesn't attract dirt. It cleans off easily with a brush and any solvent. I also use it on my auto's slides. I think one can will last a lifetime!
