Driving to California

I will be driving to California in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I could travel with my Glock19 with the 15 round mags.
I already know that upon arrival to Cali that the gun needs to be unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk with the ammo secured seperately.{Made this trip last year and carried a revolver}
I was told that hand guns that would "accept" a higher than 10 round capicity were illegal.
Can anyone clear this up for me {and post links}
Thanks

It is illegal to import any high capacity magazine to Ca. No difference is made for just a visit or a move. I got this from the Ca. DOJ Firearms Division website. Do a search and poke around.

I've e-mailed them with questions and they have replied fairly promptly, so maybe you can get your info from the horses mouth.

Not allowed to bring your 15 rnd mag into kal. also you probably are not allowed to bring your handgun into kal. even if locked up unloaded in trunk.

I believe kal. has a law that only allows you to transport firarms to a place for a certain purpose such as a range - I believe it is NOT legal to carry it unloaded and locked in your trunk for protection - protection (self defense) is not an allowable excuse to transport.

I am not certain check calguns.net or gunscal.com to learn more.
