Dressing up the old LOADED model Springfield

There is little you really need to do with the Springfield 1911A1 Loaded model. Its a dang good .45 right out of the box. I have had ZERO problems with it firing Federal Hydra Shoks and SPEER LAWMAN FMJs both in 230 grains.
One thing I will do to it is install Ashly Express night sights. (Maybe take it to the smith for an Action/Trigger job.)
I have installed these sights on my other .45s - but have yet to do so with this perticular Auto.
But one thing that I have already done is swap out the grips every couple months.
I think I found the pair I like the best and will keep for the duration.
I LOVE the feel of my Hogue rubber finger groove grips... But they are plain ugly black rubber with no "Class". Total Utility.
I also LOVE the look of a nice pair of exotic wood grips with nice grain showing.
I also like the wood grips to be smooth and not checkered. But smooth wood grips dont shoot well in my hands... I need more grip for better control.
This was my delema.
Enter Pearce Grips.
Pearce makes this MODULAR Grip system. It arrived yesterday. So I installed them under the grip panels that I recieved from GUNSITE.
The Gunsite grips are a very nice looking red colored exotic wood - smooth and slick with the Gunsite's logo Raven engraved in there.
Best of BOTH worlds now!
The modular system makes these smooth wood grips feel like the Hogues. Fully controllable and can easily be carried concealed as th erubber is only in the front strap and not the panels to grab shirt fabri and PRINT my gun. That would be bad.
This system is fantastic and I recomend these things to everyone with a .45.

Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings; they did it by killing all those who opposed them.

Ok, what are the pierce grips, what do they do, were do they fit on the frame and how do they install...?...fubsy.

Personally, I like the feel of checkering. I customized my grips by adding a Wilson 20lpi checkered wraparound front strap that slid right under the cocobolos ($10.95) and a set of Wilson countersunk hex screws ($6.95).

My groups improved a bit (they were already good) and the gun just feels better to me.

Different strokes...
