Dreading a "Lucky" Massacre

As election day draws closer and closer with Al Gore trailing in the polls, it looks like he's going to need a lucky break to win.

What could be "luckier" for him than a nice, bloody shooting rampage to dominate the news and whip up the soccer moms? The "ideal" scenario would take place either in the Midwest (with lots of key electoral votes) or in Texas (to embarass Bush). The setting would be a school or a church (synagogue?) with plenty of middle class victims; the weapon would be some sort of high capacity "assault" "plastic" handgun bought at a gun show. The perpetrator would most likely be someone with a long history of trouble and medication, but of course if the story hit around October 30 (just enough time for maximum "spin" before the election) that wouldn't come out till later.

The odds of such a scenario are, of course, very slim, but then again, the nutcakes do seem to keep popping up at just the right time to bail Clinton and Company out of trouble. And since GWB hasn't gone on the offensive on RKBA, he's wide open to being hammered if Gore gets an opening.

Note: I don't think that Clinton or Gore have ever arranged for a deus ex machina incident like the Oklahoma City bombing, but they do seem to be quite "lucky". :(

And, so long as the pro-RKBA side adheres to a strictly defensive strategy, sooner or later the other side is going to get the "break" they need to ratchet down our freedoms another notch.

A lucky massacre? Or maybe two? GAWD! I had not thought of that scenario in a while. If it should occur, we are doomed in November. I shudder at the thought of it.

I actually just recently talked a fellow I know out of suicide by cops. I told him that it was a bad idea and it would make things even worse for people like me. So he's getting assistance now and all is well.

More proof us gun owners are the solution not the problem.....

And consider this: after the election, no matter who wins, Clinton will finally be free of the need to worry about public opinion. He'll be able to do the "right thing" to secure his legacy -- meaning, I'm afraid, something like an executive order banning the importation of handguns.

Executive orders can be repealed by the next President; We ought to demand that Bush commit right now to cancelling all of Clinton's post election executive orders, and most of the pre-election orders.

Nah, getting Bush to do that would lose him votes. I hope he continues his mild gun controls stance. He's certainly not showed much anti-gun activism while in office in Texas.
