DPMS Panther Lite 16 or Olympic Arms plinker plus?

So tax returns are soon and I feel a need for a black gun. I'm thinking one of these two, I would probably shoot around 100 rounds per weekend, and it would be mainly a plinker. Any thoughts?

I have the DPMS A3 Lite, and absolutely love it. Have put around 1000 rounds through without any problems whatsoever. The mags that come with the rifle feel "cheap" but work fine, picked up several PMags and they work fine as well. Accuracy is decent, pretty much all I shoot is cheaper brass cased 55gr FMJ and I can hold 3-1/2" groups at 200 yards with just a cheap scope. I'm sure with a good scope and some match grade ammo, those groups could tighten up a fair bit.

Several years ago I had an Olympic Arms Plinker, never gave me any problems either, think you would be good to go with either one.

I'd take a DPMS over Olympic any day. Olympic's rifles seem to be spotty sometime- at least they were when we sold them at the shop. Had quite a few come back with problems. Never had a problem with the DPMSes I've had. A buddy just bought one, I can't remember the model, but it's a hell of a gun for the $625 he paid for it.

Maybe I'm lucky but I have never shot a "bad" Olympic. I currently have at least 3 Oly uppers and 2 lowers and all are accurate and 100% functional.

It depends on how much you are planning to spend. Olympic Arms are pretty much low end rifles and DPMS are not much better. They are fine for plinking but again it depends on the price. Personally, I wouldn't give more than $500 or so for either.

I have a DPMS and it's accurate but doesn't like wolf ammo. Mine has a 20" barrel and it usually short strokes with wolf.

Could be because Wolf is garbage ammo. I have stopped using steel case ammo altogether. My last AR had a tendency to rip the rim off and leave a case stuck in my chamber. I would take a DPMS just as quickly as I would take (insert random "high end" brand). They may not be expensive but they are good work horse rifles, at least the ones I've had and sold.

Of the two; I vote DPMS. They just feel more solid than the olympic guns to me. That said, I would keep doing research and see if you find different options at the same price point. ;)
