Dovetail, Standard or Weaver mounts?

I have used Weaver style for most of my scope mounts but am mounting a 6x24x40AO scope on a Remington 700 SPS SS 25-06 and looking at Burris or Leapold either dual dove tail or standard rings and base. Anyone have any feedback of preferences?

"Standard" meaning dovetail/turn-in front, and windage-adjustable clamped-in rear, right?

The more solid the better. So dual turn-ins first choice, it being the most solid. But if you need windage adjustment, you need it, so that standard would be second choice, but in that event, best choice. Others are last choice, UNLESS you're want a QR setup - the weaver/picatinney is the (only) way to go.

Currently I have 2 pc Leupold dual dovetail bases set up on my 700 with Burris Signature rings. This seems to work well.

On my Savage I have 2 pc Weaver bases with Millett aluminum rings. The Weaver style has the convenience of easily removing the rings/scope as a single unit and easy remounting.

I guess as long as windage is not a severe problem either mounting method is good.
