I realize most here are one issue voters like myself but to me these bulletins seem like wonderful ways to help us keep our reps from becoming more liberal on other issues.
After it is about control

"Is there anything wrong with a woman preferring the dignity of an armed citizen? I don't like to be coddled and I don't like to be treated like a minor child. So I waive immunity and claim my right -- I go armed." -- Longcourt Phyllis in Beyond This Horizon by Robert Heinlein

Remember, Not all Republicans are good, and not all Democrats are bad (although an overwhelming majority are). Look closely at their opinions usually found around here in the handout by the League of Women Voters. If you cannot find either Republican or Democrat that is worthy consider the Libertarians. A case in point is New York where Hillary and Rick are both anti-gun.

Agreed.

Thank God for the Internet (and Google)! I'm voting via absentee ballot this year and was thumbing through the Sample Ballot.

Using the Web, I found out that a guy I was thinking of voting for resigned his position as DA due to a pending recall and that he was fined for a late filing of campaign info.

Another candidate was a college student who somehow got past the primaries. He had no background at all for the position while the opposition had 4 years of exemplary service.

These were Non Partisan positions, but I can bet you that the local library wouldn't have had any info on them. And, unlike the Web, isn't available 24/7.

In the Senate and House races it was a no-brainer (Nevada), but on these other obscure races, a little reasearch paid off. It's amazing what you can dig up on the candidates by just submitting their name to a search engine.

Look in this month's NRA Rifleman, Guardian, or hunter - it gives you a breakdown with a rating on all candidates in your particular state, for both federal and state offices. VERY helpful.

Caveat emptor on the NRA ratings/recommendations in the current issue.

For Nevada they are recommending Bernie Anderson (D-Dist. 31) over his 'A' rated pubbie contender. This worthy was in control of the Judiciary Committee and bottled up Nevada CCW reciprocity last year. And they give him an 'A-' rating!! I'm still rubbing my eyes in disbelief.

The Nevada State Rifle Assn. says vote for Bernie's opposition. Use their recommendations and in any state, use GOA's over the NRA.

Don't just stop at the congressional level. Check out state representatives and judges, too. Call them at home and pretend to be an anti. "What do you think we can do about the gun problem?" When you phrase it that way, you'll be surprised at some of the answers you'll get. I had one candidate for judge tell me she thought only the police and military should have guns.

Remember, many if not most politicians aspire to higher office. And judges aspire to higher courts.
