Im hoping someone can help me out here. Im looking for a revolver that is small enough for concealment (so probably 3" or smaller barrel) but that comes in a 22 where i can shoot the LR or the magnums from it. Is their a revolver like this that anyone knows of?

If not, can anyone recommend a good 22 magnum thats good for concealment and is reliable?

Thanks!

if you want a double action revolver that can be used with both 22 magnum and 22 lr. you have two options. Charter and Taurus. although each round usesits own cylinder.

if you want a single action you have to go with Heritage.

North American Arms makes a very concealable 5-shot .22 Magnum (single action). They also make .22 LR cylinders for it.

I have one - it's very small for deep concealment. Mine folds into a plastic "holster" for pocket carry - clips into your pocket like a pocket knife. Surprisingly good quality.

That's it in the upper-left with an LCR and GP100 for size comparison.

I have both the Ruger LCR357 and LCR38, fantastic revolvers and definitely pocket guns. The LCR is also available in .22LR. If and when they come out in one in .22mag I'll buy it!

You might look at the S&W 351PD in .22mag. I have my eyes on it. Light weight, pocket size, great (and underrated) caliber.

In the late 1960s through the early 1980s, S&W made several all-steel compact J frame models in .22WMR, and offered optional matched .22LR cylinders from the factory. The model numbers were:
  • 51: blue or nickel, adjustable rear sight, usually 3-1/2" barrel
  • 650: stainless, fixed rear sight, usually 3" barrel
  • 651: stainless, adjustable rear sight, usually 4" barrel
Problem is, these guns are uncommon and expensive in general, and guns with the matching .22LR cylinder are even MORE rare and expensive. If the seller has any idea what he or she has, expect to pay at least $525-$575 for a G/VG "shooter" up to $750+ for a LNIB / ANIB set.

S&W currently offers an AirLite scandium alloy frame 7-shot .22WMR snubby, the Model 351PD. However, AFAIK no .22LR cylinder has ever been offered for it.

FYI S&W cylinders generally have to be hand-fitted to the individual gun; they're not as forgiving and easily interchangeable as Ruger Single Six cylinders, for example. If you pick up one of these guns and a non-matching .22LR cylinder, expect it to require extensive 'smithing to work properly.

If you want .22 LR,,,

Are you thinking you can shoot .22 LR and .22 magnum from the same cylinder?
If so, you are mistaken my friend.

When you see revolvers advertised that shoot .22 LR and .22 magnum,,,
Each cartridge needs it's own separate cylinder.

Used S&W Model 34 snubbies in .22 LR are out there,,,

S&W makes the Model 317 snubbie in .22 LR.

S&W also makes the Model 351PD snubbie in .22 Magnum,,,
And the Model 351C snubbie in .22 Magnum.

Charter Arms makes the 22 LR Pathfinder in a 2" snubbie,,,
They also make the 22 Magnum Pathfinder in a 2" snubbie.

My lady friend has the Pathfinder and personally, I like it a lot,,,
It's a quality handgun with a lifetime warranty,,,
It's a lot cheaper than a S&W will be,,,
And it's American made as well.

Hope this helps.
