Does anyone prefer the original Ruger LC9 over the newer LC9s?

I'm taking the original hammer fired LC9 pistol preferred over the striker fired LC9s.

Anyone carry the old LC9?

Not Me

Just got a LC9s Pro with the CT laser a couple weeks ago. I have about 500 rounds through it with no issues aside from one FTF due to a flawed case, not the gun.
Like any small 9, it's snappy but not to the point of being uncomfortable to shoot. The trigger is very nice, reset is a little longer than I prefer but after a couple hundred rounds I got used to it.

I had a LC9 a couple years ago. The only gun I ever traded off. Horrible trigger.
I got it for my wife but she decided she likes revolvers better.
Looking back I can't believe I bought it. I'm glad Ruger got it right with the LC9s.

I tried the original lc9 in the local shop. I could not get past the horrid trigger. The lc9s is soooo much better in that regard IMO there is no comparison.

I own a LC9S Pro that is on Gun Broker now. Total junk in my opinion. I bought it because I shot a friend's original LC9 and loved it. Also love the original LCP.

I normally put at least 500 rounds, 50 of them protection ammo, through any gun before carrying it. The LCPS Pro failed the 500 round test miserably.

100 rounds of 115 grin Federal red box from Walmart had 14 FTFs or jams.

100 rounds of Winchester White Box had 9 FTFs or jams.

100 rounds S&B 124 grain ball ammo had 7 FTFs or jams.

100 rounds of 124 grain reloads FMJ had 11 FTFs or jams.

50 rounds of 124 grain Galden Saber+P had 4 FTFs or jams.

50 rounds of Critical Defense 115 grain has 10 FTFs or jams.

I wanted to try other guns to make sure it was the gun and not me. All six of these ammo's did great in my 9mm Shield. The S&B and reloads as well as some Gold Dots in .380 did great in my Kel-Tec P3AT. Couldn't find the other ammo's in .380.

I owned an LC9. I didn't think the trigger was absolutely terrible, but I am used to DA revolvers. I never tried an LC9. I ended up trading the LC9 towards a Glock 43 mostly because the Glock fit my hand a lot better, but I likef the Ruger okay.

Ah no. Had an original LC9. Hated the trigger. Dumped $$ on some Galloway parts, and still hated the trigger. Sold the gun (good riddance). Have an LC9S PRO. It has been flawless regardless of ammo used, and I love the trigger.

It depends on your purpose

Why do you have an LC9, LC9s, or Lc9s Pro?

If you want to burn 200-300 rounds per range trip, your trigger finger will thank you for using a striker.

If your focus is split times, a striker has the speed you need.

If ultimate accuracy is your goal, a shorter trigger requires less skill and effort than a longer trigger.

If you want the most assurance that the potentially life-changing shots in an adrenaline-charged self defense situation are fully intentional, a long DAO trigger may be perfect.

I enjoy the short, light triggers of the striker-fired guns more at the range, but the longer trigger of the LC9 provides an extra margin of safety I prefer in a carry gun.

I carry an original LC9, and have never understood the complaints about the trigger. It's definitely a long press, but it's also smooth, consistent, and not particularly heavy. I'm with gc70 on the peace of mind aspect.

I have a LC9 and simply never got used to the trigger. I shoot a ton of smith and wesson revolvers in double action mode, so I am very used to a long trigger pull, but could never quite get as proficient as needed with an LC9.

I ended up replacing it with a S&W shield and the LC9 might go down the road to a new owner. I tried a new LC9s when making my decision, and the newer trigger is light years beyond the original.

I have a hammer-fired LC9 and I like it. It's a defensive pistol, not a bullseye pistol. I cerakoted the slide and barrel since I carry it IWB during the summer and wanted a little more surface protection. I'll run several mags of rounds through it when I go shooting and it feels like a small defensive pistol. If I want something that fits my hand better, I use a bigger pistol. I like bigger pistols for defensive carry, but I'll use the LC9 when I can't conceal the bigger ones. It goes off every single time I pull the trigger, and it's accurate enough for defensive work, so I'm good.

I prefer the Gen 1 LC9 over the s-models. The DAO trigger is better for pocket carry. I do wish Ruger had done a Pro-model LC9 instead of on the LC9s.....lighter triggers and pocket guns with no safety do not mix well.

I have an LC9, I've handled the S and it has a much better trigger but not enough better that I'll sell the LC at a loss and but the S. The LC9 trigger is ok for a belly gun. Good in fact out to 15 yards, still on an IDPA target at 25 yards. It ain't a target gun. To be honest I prefer a 642 revolver because it's much easier to get out of a pocket and it's a 1/4 lb lighter.

I haven't seen the newer model, but I carry the LC9 on a regular basis. It'll never be a Bullseye pistol, but it's not meant to be. It's a belly gun.

It works in that mode just fine. It's accurate enough for "minute of felon" at SD ranges. I don't even notice the trigger many people complain about.

Mine came with a green laser which gobbles batteries. I took that off pretty quickly.
