KPS: I don't know about availability in Mass yet, but they've hit the stores here in Pennsylvania and they're on California's approved list, for what that's worth.
What is it about the Glocks and the HS2000 that kept them from the Mass list.
As Railroader suggests, contact Springfield. They just posted the California info at HS2000-Talk the other day. They're definitely keeping the fan base informed.
By the way, if the XD is on the approved list, and if you find the pistol to be a comfortable fit, it's well worth the price --- no matter what you've heard to the contrary. Some folk are upset because Springfield has now priced them at realistic levels, a hundred bucks or so above the ridiculously low "come-on" price when Intrac introduced the HS2000 to the market.
Its quality, performance, and reliability is on par with the other big names, just as you'd expect from Springfield. No sense buying "used" when comparable "new" is available at the same (or lower) price. My Gen 1 has got well over 6,000 flawless rounds through it, and it'll run with my SIG 225 and SIG 239 all day. It also put my S&W 6906 and Kahr P9 to shame (both since departed from my stable).
Again, the XD is a quality pistol that is more than realistically priced.
Take care. Marko
