Does anyone make a 10rnd 1911 clone?

Hello!

I am not asking about the odd extender mags for the 1911's, I have seen those and I know whatthey are. What I am talking about... Is there any gun manufacturer that builds a custom 1911 with a slightly wider grip and a completely internal "stack-and-a-half" ten round magazine?

I know that the HK USP45 is like this... What about the 1911 family?

Any help is appreciated.

I maybe wrong, as I am still researching different 1911's myself. But, doesn't Para Ord make hicap 1911's?

J. T. King,

Wilson Combat offers their new (first sold in late '99) KZ-45. It is not precisely a 1911A1 "clone"; rather, it is more like a 1911A1 "close cousin".

Differences include an external extractor, a stainless steel and Kevlar reinforced polymer structure, and a 10+1 capacity. The KZ-45 costs $1K, but it is a Wilson, which certainly implies superior accuracy, reliability, durability, quality, craftsmanship and service. In addition, the current lead-time is about eight months.

You may want to check the TFL archives re the KZ-45; I've seen several worthwhile threads this year.

The following URL will take you to Wilson's page for the "KZ": http://www.wilsoncombat.com/index1.html

I think you're not talking about a "nutered" hi-cap .45 (of which there are several good examples mentioned here) but a gun designed around the 10 round limit. Not a bad idea considering how unreliable my P14 with "reduced" 10-round mags was, or how fat a Glock 21 is. But I think Wilson is the only one making them (the KZ-45)... at their usual freakin' insane prices. Well, maybe not insane; if anyone makes a handgun worth $1000+ it's probably them.

Thanks guys,

I did look at that wilson... nice looking piece but that IS a little pricey... Not looking for a race gun, rather one that will complement what I already have.

I'll take a look at Kimber's site too.

thanks again!

Wilsons aren't race guns. They will complement a standard "carry-home defense battery" very well. However, my understanding is that the Wilson 10 rounder guns are incompatible with other 1911 mags---single stack nor double! That is a serious handicap for the Wilson 10rd. guns. If you really want more ammo, get a (insert brand here) "neutered" high cap gun and you can use anyone's pre-ban mags...much better!
