i want to get a beretta 87 target .22 pistol, but i can't find one... does anyone know when they will be available?

jdd;

I just purchased the Beretta Model 87W Cheetah in .22 last week. The "W" stands for wood grips and they are nice! They are available in 2 versions, 3.8 inch barrel and a 6 inch long barrel. Get the 3.8 inch one, with an overall length of 6.8 inches. Mag cap. is 8 rounds. The .22 Cheetah only come with wood grips hence the "W" as part of the model code.

One was available in the gun shop where I shoot here. But, indeed, they are getting harder to find. Give me your contact info and I will put you in touch with them. They aren't cheap; expect to pay around $600 with tax and all.

The gun stovepiped on Remingon HP's. It loves the CCI Stingers and Agiuila (hot rounds). Not one jam with 150 rounds. The gun is new so I will have to try some different types of ammo. until I break it in. The quality and craftmanship is first-rate and man I mean excellent.

Your local gun dealer should be able to order one for you, they are still in stock and shipped from Beretta. Check out their website: www.beretta.it/international/cheetah.htm

The gun is a keeper!

Regards,
Hann

The 87 Target looked like a slightly improved version of the 89 with the picatinny rail on the top and extended bumper pads to boost the magazine capacity to 10-rd. I am glad to see that Beretta got rid of the ugly wood grip. I really hated the wood grips for my 89.

:D :D :D

Sorry, Jdd, the model 87 Target is different than the Model 87W .22 Cheetah. I'm not sure what Quickad is refering to regarding "ugly wood grips" on the model 89. I can only speak for the model 87W Cheetah. The grips are the finest I have ever held my hands on, period. They just don't get any better. Sorry for the mistake and good shooting.

Best Regards,
Hann

Hann - the model 89 has the thumb rest target big hugh ugly wood grips that are only comfortabel if you have very large hands. I couldn't stand mine and have purchased a pair of the 87 wood grips for the 89. Basicaly the 87 and 89 are the same gun with the 89 having a heavy target bbl with counter weights, adjust sights and yes, those ugly big wood grips. :D :D :D
