Does anyone know how much this is worth?

My Grampa owns a Savage model 99F .284 with "R10" in an oval near the lever boss, which I later found out means it's from 1964. Neither of us seem to know how much its worth, so I'm hoping somebody here can help.

26th edition which is about 10 yrs old shows an 80% condition gun at about 400. Add 35% if its a 250-3000 caliber, 20% for 358 and 284 win. Mfg from 55-73. 95% condition is 500 . It may have increased over the years, but this gives you an idea.

Welcome to TFL !

It's worth much more..........

This 98% rifle sold a few years ago @ $795: http://www.gunsamerica.com/931843188/SAVAGE_Model_99F_Lever_Action_Rifle_284_Win_Cal.htm

This 100%/minty sample is currently F/S @ $1450: http://www.gunsinternational.com/Savage-99F-in-284-win-.cfm?gun_id=100384850

I have little doubt that, in another 5 years, one in 98&/better condition will bring $2K - a better investment than a CD.

"Condition", as in remaining original issue condition, means everything - and you haven't mentioned the condition of the subject rifle.

Hmm bluebook shows a 99f and a 99 featherweight. They are a considerable difference in price. The one listed for 1450 states its a featherweight. I wonder if they think the 99f is a featherweight. I'll check more on the decriptions and post the diff. The featherweight is a takedown model and blue book is 150 more. It was only made up to 1940

Blue books and their ilk aside, in good condition (and, as most people know, condition counts for a lot), a Model 99 chambered in .284 will fetch north of $800.00 or so where I live.
