Black powder develops the same pressure whether contained in a steel cylinder or a brass case, assuming the charge and bullet, etc. are the same.
This was a very common conversion just after the cartridges became commonly available on the market. I saw one old conversion where the nipples had been replaced with individual firing pins. I don't know what cartridge was used, but the bore was a standard .36 cal. I've always wondered about that.
HEY COOL! I didn't know they made those for .36 Navy Pietta. Thank you JohnKSA. I just ordered one. Can you shoot .38 specials as well as .38 Colt long in those? That is just what I have been needing to be able to better practice with my Navy.
What my original question was aimed at was that there are conversion kits out there that allow you to personally convert your current ball and cap cylinder and gun frame to fit cartridges.
I don't know specific information about the cylinders. You'll have to find out from the information that comes with the cylinder, or perhaps contact the manufacturer.
