Does anyone else think those C mear deer and auto feeders
they are putting out now is ridiculous..

I mean i understand getting them in with the dang sticks
and other tools but feeding them and tricking them into
coming with in 30 yards to feed so you can take a shot??

Is that still even considered hunting? I understand using it
to get them into certain area to come around to feed and
you get more game to come into your broad area.. but to
one 10 yard location so people can sit in hides for a good
10 min and take a shot and leave.. Idk i just thinks that's
a little too much and a little unfair and not really a "Hunt"
to me at all.. So is it just me or is anyone else kinda
disappointed when you see these things?

It just seems a little too much and a little too lazy and
unfair to the hunt and real hunters out there.. And they
brag about what a wonderful hunt and story that was..

I don't hunt over corn... I think florida, if I read it right, allows it so long as the feeder been up for 6 months before season. I don't buy any flavored blocks or other so called vitamin/mineral supplements be it flavored or not.

Spelling Spella

No, it's C'Mere (come here), not C Mear. Get it right if you're gonna complain about it. Think I'll go buy some now.......

The closest I am gonna do is hang some tampons soaked in vanilla in hopes the deer will stop and sniff giving me a couple seconds to send some Pb and Cu there way...

I dont use it so idc if i spelt it right or wrong...

You get the point.. idk maybe im just old fashioned but
i might as well fish in the breeding tank from now on
cause its pretty much the same thing..

But then again thats just me.. i guess do your thing
and have fun shooting fish (deer) in a barrel... ;)

If you don't think it's ethical/fair/sporting, don't do it. If it's legal, and people want to do it but you don't, then don't, but don't try to force your opinions on others. That makes you about like PETA.

Im not forcing anything on anyone.. its a rant and i was
speaking my mind.. im ganna speak my opinion and argue my
side just as well as your arguing yours.........
So your no different than i am so idk what your talking..

It's not necessary legal, and definitely not in PA where I live. Personally, IMO, if you need to hunt over corn or a feeder you should spend more time learning your craft than searching on the web for the newest feeder. I enjoying hunting as much for the meat and animals as I do for the valuable time spent with family and friends. For the most part I get a good bit of both when I go out, but if I don't come back with anything so be it. ;)

Ramble for the rant.

I doubt anybody on this forum cares how I hunt.

Good bucks almost never come to a feeder anywhere close to daylight.

A big problem we have here in my part of NC is having enough hunters to kill the deer that need to be killed.

I can sit on my deck and shoot deer in my garden.

I will admit that sneaking up on a deer and killing him with a bow that I made is more interesting, but it's a dead deer either way.

It's hard to make deer hunting hard any more.

I've never hunted over bait. I hunt for my own reasons, in my own ways, and it's no one else's business.

I expect others to honor my (legal) way of hunting, and I give the same courtesy to them. It's none of my business what legal activity they engage in.

There is a great difference between hunting and harvesting. Any animal shot over bait is not hunting in my book but a harvest. And dont get me wrong a harvest is nessasary at times. While I have never and cant ever see anytime I would ever shoot anything over a bait or next to a foodplot I understand that sometimes this is nessasary. I talked to a man that can only hunt on one 40 acre plot and if he didnt hunt over bait he would never get a deer. This I consider a harvest, sometimes required to feed the family. It just not what I call hunting. Just my opinion.

Most every deer I`ve ever killed has been either over bait ,in a food plot or next to a food plot. A stand of beechs, hickories, walnut, apple trees are all food plots/bait as is a field of honeysuckle, berries or wild flowers. I`ve also killed my share over watering holes. Whether man made or nature made, if you`re deer hunting your hunting food plots.

Guess I do not see what the difference is between lures and feeders/candy or what-ever you put out. If you are tricking a deer into stopping to smell something, or follow a scent, or you have taught them that food is available here or there, why is one way any more ethical than another?

(I feel compelled to make the standard PETA joke here, only because no one else has yet. c'mon guys, your slipping!) I am a member of the PETA crowd... People Eating Tasty Animals.

I have used bait, lures and just dumb luck to get my deer. So long as I have one, I am happy. A lot of guys do it because they want the deer to get used to a certain area.

A lot of these automatic feeders can be set to only dispense feed at certain times of the day. If your happy and have the money use one. If your happy and have the money, don't use one. Just make sure you are hunting legally.
