Does Anyone Care About The SIG 2340?

It's the plastic one. I never hear about the gun, I almost bought one.

Any recommendations???

Yeah, I have one in .357 Sig. Nice pistol. Accurate & reliable. The only complaint I have, is that to disassemble it, you have to hold the slide half way back, and wiggle out the slide catch lever. The heavy strength of the recoil spring makes this hard to do. When reassembling the pistol, I also seem to have difficulty lining up the holes in the frame and slide in order to reinsert the slide catch lever. If the Sig had a take down lever or catch, like most of my other pistols, I'd probably shoot it a lot more (as I always clean my pistols after each range session).

If it where easier to clean, the Sig would be one of my favorite pistols, but now it rates a lowly 3rd or 4th ;) Otherwise it's a great gun, and I highly recommend it.

I like it. It's well made, accurate, reliable, and durable. Doesn't look/feel like a polymer pistol which is a big reason why I like it. No 10+ mags, that always puts a damper on things. A bit more tedious to detail strip than a P-series, but the fire control module can be easily taken out and dunked if it gets really dirty.

While it's slightly more work to field strip, it really isn't that big of a deal and those familiar with takedowns of most pistols like 1911's and Hipowers should be used to it.

The best way I've found is to lock the slide back and make sure it's unloaded. For a righty, I use my right hand "palm down" and put my index finger in the ejection port of the slide with my thumb on the upper back strap of the gun. I use my index finger to pull back on the slide which unlocks the slide release.

At the same time, I use my left hand "palm up" to help ease the slide forward since my right index finger can't hold back the recoil spring all by itself. My left hand index finger pushes out the lever when the slide is properly aligned with the frame. Then the slide comes off.

To put the slide back on, I just push the slide back onto the frame as far back as it will go. Then, I insert the takedown lever in it's hole. It won't go through because it's not aligned with the slot in the barrel. I then use the same hold as before when taking the slide off. All I do is pull/push the slide back until the slide aligns with the frame and I use my left hand thumb to push in the takedown lever. It's really easy and quick this way, but sounds complicated.

Yeah the so called "Glock Hold" works pretty
good. I takes apart sigPro's all the time and average about a 5-10 sec take down. I start w/ the slide locked back and the mag out. I
grab the slide w/my left hand and release the slide catch lever with my right. I put slight pressuere on the slide catch lever from the right side after it is lined up w/ the notch and it pops out nicely.

When you put it back together, if you meet resistance when putting the slide on just move it left and right a and it slides on.

Even with the "Glock" hold, this pistol is still a pain to field strip and reassemble. Guess I'm just use to the easy disassembly of my other pistols (don't own any 1911s or HiPowers). Still like the pistol a whole lot, though.

I don't care for any of the Sig Pro's; favoring the "P" series instead. If I
want polymer, I'm going to buy a Glock.

Actually, the SIGPro is superior to the classic P series :) running away now.

I believe the SIGPro will last longer than the equivalent P pistol. And it has proven to be at least a accurate. Two writers recently said the .40 sigpro is the most accurate .40 they have ever shot.

I've tested the sigpro next to my longslide glock 35. The sigpro as equal to and sometimes a tad more accurate, which really surprised me.

The only thing the P series has going for it is that it's cute and has a cute takedown lever :)
