Does anybody know the reason...?

Does anyone know the real reason why the ATA moved the Grand American Trapshoot from Vandalia, Ohio to the oh-so-gun-friendly state of Illinois? I'm from PA and used to go to this grand event every August when it was in Ohio. I haven't been to Sparta, Illinois since they moved. I haven't been involved in registered trapshooting for a good while, but would like to get back into it, but I refuse to support a state like Illinois. I've read all the politically correct BS on the move, but have never gotten a reason I actually believe. Anybody?

Maybe they want to show some Illinois politicians that there are affluent, well-behaved gun owners out there, and that there is money to be made in firearms events.

Greed can often overwhelm "idealism" amongst politicians.

Come on states are small back there, if you can drive to Ohio it's just bit further to Illinois.

Don't waste your time hating when you could be shooting.

Boy was I glad to see this. The state put 100 mil up in setting up this site. I think it shows the country that we in IL are not all anti-gun. Most of this noise comes out of the city of Chicago.

Even the suburban areas of Chicago are pro-gun. I think these liberals may get a big surprise in November. :):):)

Buzzcook, some of us prefer going to events where our carry permits are recognized. Avoiding IL doesn't have to be about "hate."

That said, if gvw3 is right, then my future road trips may no longer be structured to avoid IL.
