Do you use HORNADY bullets?

Hi,
Do you use Hornady bullets?
If yes, which type? (Interlocks, Amax, Interbonds or SST?)
If not, why?

I have used them for years with good results in my 30-06, but I am looking for other people's opinions.

Brgds,
Danny

XTP's and Interlocks. I use the SST and regular interlock in my prairie dog guns. Grand Island is close by and we get 2nds. Try to support local...They work as well as anything I've used before. Premium bullets have not been necessary for me.

I’ve used Hornady SST bullets in my .243, .270 and 30/06 for the last couple of years. Used mostly on deer and hogs they seem to work just fine. However I fail to see any drastic improvement over any other expanding bullet.

Over the years I’ve used a fair number of different brands and all were effective with well executed shots. If there’s a difference between premium bullets and cheaper ones it can’t be much when hunting. I have failed to notice any difference.

As for accuracy at most hunting ranges, all seem to be about the same.

When I deplete my supply of Hornady, Nosler and a few others I’ll probably go back to reloading the old standby, Remington Core-Lokt, for me they work as well as any others.

I love me some Hornady bullets.

I have shot 168gr A-Max in my 308, 129gr interlock in my 6.5x57mm and 50gr V-Max in my remmy 700 VLS 223 and 60gr V-Max in my AR in 223. Never has a Hornady bullet ever failed to do what it was designed for. As for a varmint bullet I will choose Hornady over all others every time I can. my ar shooting 60gr V-Max's turned in a .3" 3 shot group at 100 yards. My remmy shooting 50gr V-Max's will print .4" 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Not only are they accurate but my go to load of 2015 with a 50gr V-Max will blow the guts out of a ground hog out to 300 yards. Every ground hog I have ever shot with a v-max dies right where it is hit. Last time out I took a hog at 275 yards with my AR shooting 60gr V-max's. I nailed him right in the back of the head blew his entire head off and he still looked better than Nancy Pelosi on a good day. Unfortunately my 308 didn't like the A-Max shot 3/4" at 100 yards.

My 30-06 loves some 150gr SST's It is a old beat down Remington Model 30 express with a $40 Simmons 3-9x50mm scope and it will hold 1" 5 shot groups all day long.

I use Interlocs for most of my hunting, I have no problem with them. I use some A-Max for target shooting but I like SMKs better.

I like the little V-max 32 grainers for my 204 Ruger. It works great up to coyote size animals.

I agree with Hog Buster. Hornady bullets work fine, but I only use them if I have an oddball caliber that Remington does not make Corlockts for.

I have used Hornady bullets ever since I worked for a commercial reloader about 25 years ago. Before that I used Speer and Sierra bullets, as well as cast. I also use Noslers for hunting. As far as Hornadys, I use the 68 gr MHPBT for the AR, 55 gr SP for the 22-250 and bolt action 223, as well as A-Max for a few of the others. I think they are a good bullet for paper, but I had terrible experiences with them on game.

I have used their bullets on varmits and deer with great success. Although they performed well I have noticed that there use to be a variance in bullet weights when weighing them on my digital scale. 180 grain bullets would weigh from 178 grains to 182 grains. 4 or 5 grains difference probably will not make much difference unless you are trying to drive nails at 1000 yards. I have found that Sierra bullets weighed real close to 180 grains on a regular basis.

60 grain V-Max out of the .223 and 65 grain V-max out of the .243. I get some really good groups with these bullets. I've tried some nosler partitions and I'm not a fan but that might be because of the price tag.

Been shooting the`140gr SST in my 7mm mag for some years and have yet to have to find a deer after it was shot. Always lay'n where shot .

No. I've had issues with that company's products, and I won't do it. I just use one of the dozen other top brands.

Yes the 110 grain V-Max in my 30-06. Very impressed. Ruger No 1A light sporter, 3x9x40mm Leupold scope. Used Laupa cases's, CCI large rifle primers, and Varget for the powder. I was getting about 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yards, no doubt it would have done better then me. I was at 3712 f.p.s. for a a five shot average, still under max but that was fast enough for me. They turned a porky pine into a red mist. Hope to try them on some yotes this year. I really like them, and this is by far no target rifle. The rifle had a 1/10 twist. For deer I am using a Nosler 165 Partition so I cant help you that way.

Hi All,
thank you for responding.
Over here they are just about the most affordable quality bullets and I have found them very reliable on game form Sprinbock to very large Kudu ( a frien for whom I reload hs also huntend an Eland with the 180 interlock).

Yes, there are bullets that are perhaps more accurate, but for my bugent and needs they work just fine.

Brgds,

Danny
