I think if they put TAX on the ammo, the gun prices will drop. What ya all think? People won't be able to afford to shoot as much of any caliber.

why would gun prices go up. sorry I don't understand that concept. Why buy if you can't shoot? If you can't buy, the demand goes down so is the price right?

Ammo and guns are both in high demand right now. Ammo prices have been rising and gun sales and prices have surged at the same time. Unless ammo is priced beyond being affordable for most of the population, I don't think it will have any effect on gun sales.

In fact, high ammo might have big impact on reloading suppliers which in turn might get people to buy more guns because they now can reload various calibers very easily.

Once a confiscatory tax on ammunition is imposed, I would expect an initial jump in firearms sales in a sort of "what's next" reaction. There are, oddly but undoubtedly, still some people more or less on the fence who don't really believe any of their gun rights are threatened just yet. Once a big tax on ammunition is imposed, more than likely a good number of those will come to the realization that their last opportunity to purchase a handgun which might be threatened by future legislation would be slipping away and make that purchase. When demand goes up and supply doesn't, well that just leaves price.

I think that if anyone jumped, it would be now. I think everyone who was intrested in a handgun already got one just prior to the election. That is why i don't think that the price will jump.

Inflation, relative to all things, will soon be going up. As soon as the gov. starts handing out "stimulus" Monoply money.

I agree. If guns cost dramatically more, say 10X, few guns would sell to consumers. Most of the demand for ammo would only come from people, LEO, etc., who already own and fire their guns.
