....to pay for a HK USP stainless .45 ACP in excellent condition? The private party who is selling the gun said that he has only fired 200 rounds through it. He has to sell it so that he can buy a HK Tactical. This will be my first HK;any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Not bad, a NIB Stainless USP45 would run around 750-800 bucks here in SoCal. I'm considering picking one up myself, some shops still have them sitting around new and unfired.

Maybe try for $650, which is the price of a NIB USP45 with the standard HE finish.

In any case, it's an incredible gun. I plan to own all the USP's eventually.

Based on prices I've seen, $670 is ok, but not a great price for a used USP stainless .45ACP. However, if it's truly mint and only 200 rounds through it it may be well worth that price considering they aren't manufactured any more. 200 rounds isn't even a good break-in for a quality gun like an HK.

With that said, for my $670 I'd want a Glock 17 and three cases of 9mm practice ammo. :D The price is the only thing that keeps me from trying an HK!

You shouldn't let the price bother you too much.

I did, so I bought a Glock. Then I sold the Glock, and bought the HK I had wanted from the beginning. To me, they are worth the extra money. They aren't worth it to everyone, but if you love HK's as much as I do then buy one and you'll appreciate where the extra money went (over a Glock). My problem is whether I should buy a USP45 or a Kimber right now.

Yes. If you needed to resell it, for whatever reason, you won't get 670$ for it. I think 600$ would be a fair deal. If it doesn't come with two magazines, box and manual, it's only a 500$ gun.
