Do you shake CLP well before using?

Some say yes some say no. Bottles don't mention it. I've some chain oil for higher-end bicycle use that requires shaking - the bottle is clear and you can see that material is homogenized by shaking (I believe it's a type of wax).

What says you? I use other oils/protectants but do have some CLP and I'm curious.

my vote is for shaking - I've seen that unshaken CLP appears thinner, with regards to its viscosity, if it's unshaken, which leads me to believe that the components can separate and need to be mixed.

The bottles of BreakFree CLP I have on hand all say to SHAKE WELL before using.

I'd say that if the bottle says to shake it, then you should shake it. If not, then shake it if it makes you feel good, or don't if you don't feel like it. :D

Breakfree CLP contains Teflon particles which will settle out.
Shake well.

There are other brands of CLP that appear homogenious and shaking would not matter.

Yes, Breakfree CLP - not just any CLP-type substance.

With so many different oils, lubes and waxes for cleaning and protecting metal, the bike chain treatment (called Rock n Roll Gold) which obviously contains a wax dissolved in petroleum has piqued my interest.

That clear bottle, which when shaken, gives interesting insight. If Breakfree and other CLPs are similar was my interest.

So it's Teflon in Breakfree? Where'd you find that?
