Personally, I prefer hammer fired weapons because I like having the DA/SA capability, plus I think hammer fired weapons look better. I don't believe one is any better than the other, it mostly comes down to personal preference. Which do you prefer?

Hammer fired by far, BY FAR! Not even close. I do choose striker fired for carry, but my EDC is the only one single striker-fired handgun I have. Same thing with tupperware. It's a fine tool and the right tool for the job of defensive carry, but I want -zero- more of them as they are not at all what I love and enjoy from a handgun.

LOL. :D

I'm not quite as extreme about it as Sevens, but I'm of a similar mind. In general, I strongly prefer hammer-fired to striker-fired (and metal-framed to plastic-framed). I do recognize that polymer striker-fired pistols have their place, though. My primary and secondary CCWs are poly striker-fired pistols.

Glock 19, carry and IDPA gun. Sixteen rounds, not too heavy, works all the time. The modern way!

Me too.

I prefer large steel SA/DA hammer pistols in general.

But for carry, a small polymer DAO striker fired is the way to go.

Try as I might, I have never become a fan of striker fired guns. Give me metal, hammer fired, DA/SA guns any day of the week. Just my personal preference, and not likely to change at this point of my life.

I like both and did not vote.

SIGs and HKs for hammer fired.

Was not much of a striker fired fan until I got my Walther PPQ a few years ago and also my HK VP9 last summer. Looking to try SIG P320 soon.

My first pistol was a Springfield XD9 and I thought it was great. When I got my 92fs it blew my mind. After trying a FNP, 1911 & the odd assorted hammer fired guns I love the hammer fired now.

Hammer For Me

Wife has striker fired pistols, the right choice for her. I carry a 38 snub hammerless ( internal hammer) revolver because that is what I think is the best choice for me in that role. The rest of my pistols are hammer, a couple DA/SA 3rd Gen Smiths and a couple 1911's. That is what I want for home protection and range use and I much prefer to actually shoot.

There are some guns I like, some I don't. Hammer fired vs striker fired is not really the deciding factor, I have several of both. But if it absolutely, positively has to go bang when the trigger is pulled striker fired guns are simpler and more reliable. You do lose the 2nd strike capability, but the odds of the 2nd strike actually making a difference are slim to none. I won't waste time with either design trying. If the gun doesn't shoot the round in the chamber on the 1st try it is going to be replaced with another round. The odds of that happening are pretty slim too.

I like both, but my newest addition is my FNX-45. I am a fan of steel and hammers (S&W 5906) but I do own both and use both, it really depends on what I'm doing that day as to what gun I carry.

I didn't vote because I don't have a preference. I have both and they all go bang every time I pull the trigger. I don't care how it works as long as it works every time.

I'm with osbornk as well.
I don't much care if it is hammer or striker. As long as it fits may hand well, has good ergos, and shoot reliably and straight.
My only pistol is a hammer fired (CZ75) but my soon-to-be-purchased carry gun will be striker fired.
