Do you have to buy a custom gun to shoot .450 SMC?

If you want a gun chambered for this round, does it have to be one of the custom guns, or is it possible to take a stock 1911 from, say, Kimber, and modify it to take the increased pressures of .450 SMC?

If you do this, are do you have to be concerned with parts wearing out more quickly?

I think the HK USP's are able to handle the 450 smc, but I haven't tried any in mine yet. Can anybody confirm this? Other than the HK, I am not aware of any others.

The glock 21 can with a recoil spring change. You could place a 22/24 spring in the gun and be all set. A tighter barrel would be great also.

Triton has said it's fine in the full sized USP, don't know about the compact. I just got a free box from them, will shoot them next time I'm at the range and give a report (THANKS Triton).
