Do you guys like the HK USP Compact 40's ??

I liked it enough to buy one used. I think it's an excellent overall compromise of size, ergonomics, and accuracy in a general purpose pistol. Weight and bulk might be downsides to some for concealed carry (relative to very personal preference).

At first the top-heavy/muzzle-heavy balance of the polymer frame was awkward, but I've gotten used to it.

I just happen to have a H&K .40 Compact on me right now. I bought mine when they first came out before they made the stainless, so I sent it to Accurate plating in Fla. and had the slide and small parts hardchromed. I also have a set of Trijicon night sights on it and it shoots great. I know you will like your pistol when you get it.

Shot mine today as a matter of fact. Great gun, accurate and I find the recoil is mild for a compact .40. I would buy it again.

I personally found the muzzle lift of the USPC 40 to be uncomfortable, but I am used to 9mm. It also tended to twist on me.

Guess I should throw my 2 cents...

Picked up a slightly used stainless USP 40C for my wife (she had been using my Beretta 92, and didn't really like the feel of it).

No major problems yet. The double-action trigger pull is VERY stiff, but she prefers cocked and locked anyway ;). VERY reliable, and fairly comfortable to shoot.

However... order extra mags NOW, and pick up any you find. The store we got hers at ordered mags when we picked the pistol up, and they STILL haven't come in (that was around three months ago)...

The USP40 was designed around the cartridge rather than just a scaled-up 9mm. It handles the high pressure better than anything else made. Not opinion, just fact.

A good friend of mine bought a USP Compact, stainless in .40 a while ago. It fit his hand and his requirments well and I advised him that it didn`t get much better than this. Well, that may not have been the best advice I ever gave. It jammed twice in the 1st mag with Corbon ammo, once on the next with ball and about once every 100rds. or so since then with anything. I polished the feed ramp and it didn`t make any difference. It also does it with both mags. He doesn`t mind it much but it really bugs me since it`s his primary CCW. Aside from that the DA trigger could be better,it`s kinda top heavy and it`s very snappy in recoil with a lot of muzzle flip. Accuracy is so so. Basically I`m disapointed in it,he would have been better off with a Kahr,Glock 27/23,or CZ PCR. YMMV Marcus

Very nice guns...

...even if HK does have a somewhat eccentric interpretation of the word "compact". ;)

Good compromise

I've checked out (by firing) a lot of 40's and liked the H & K compacts enough to buy a second one. First love is .45 ACP and will be checking out a PO, but for the compromise of bullet capacity and bullet potential and shootability, HK makes a nice little gun...with a FIST holster, it's concealable enough.
