Do us common folk need lawyers to interpret the Constitution?

I have always though that this document was meant to be understood by those with just a normal amount of common sense. It seemed that way for quite some time. Maybe it was when the liberals started to twist it into something it is not that we needed all the "legal scholars, lawyers, and historians" to expain it to us. And wouldn't you know it, that when the liberal constitutional scholars like tribe started to admit the the Second amemdment was an individual right he suddenly started receiving death threats by his previous supporters. Now they turn to the historians to intrepret constitutional law since the gun industry has obviously corrupted their previous champions of liberty. I find it hard to believe the we have all misunderstood this doucument the minute the liberals started disagreeing with it. Must be just a funny coincidence.

An example,

Amend X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Maybe some of you smarter guys can tell me why this amendment needs teams of lawyers and scholars to translate it into something the common man understands?

I think lawyers (politicians) translating it is what has gotten us in the sorry shape we are in today. :(

When we have a president who will argue over the meaning of the word "is"....we will likely have problems with that president, and his government.

My first rule of voting is: Does the candidate have a law degree? No, tell me more. Yes, take a hike.

Yep. As soon as you go down the "living document" road you may as well use the Constitution to wipe the oil off your dipstick.

It means what it says and says what it means. Unless you want to subvert it for your own purposes then suddenly it needs "interpretation". I don't get it and never will.
