Do local dealers carry FBI load?

After a number of years without a .38 snubby, I recenty purchased one and wanted to use .38 special +P 158 gr. semi-wadcutter hollowpoints. This is the old FBI load. I've checked 5 local gunshops plus Walmart and none carry this load. The most common is 110 or 125 gr. JHP which, I believe, is inadequate in a snubby. I know I can order these online but it made me wonder if any local dealers are carrying the old FBI load. Also, what do others use in the .38 snubby?

In the meantime, I'm using 148 gr. wadcutters because of the tissue damage they can cause. Once Fall and Winter arrive, however, the wadcutters won't have sufficient penetration.

Also not being able to purchase the FBI load locally, I ordered two boxes of 50 from Midway about 8 months ago along with two boxes of 20, Speer Gold Dot 135 grain +P Hp's.

I find myself using the Gold Dots for carry. Speer designed them especially for 2 inch revolvers at about 865 fps out of my S&W M642-2 snubby. The Winchester 158 grain +P SWC lead FBI load runs at 792 fps from the same revolver.

Local shops are carrying the 135 grain Gold Dots now at about $17.00 per box. They can be ordered on-line for about $13.00 plus shipping.

I would suggest you consider the Gold Dot load for snubby carry and the wad cutters for practice.
