I have a like new sig 228 9mm, which is a great pistol but i've been lusting after a sig 239 .40 i can't get both so should i trade/sell the 228 for the 239, or just stay with the 228?

What part of "NO" don't you understand.

KITT,
If you trade the P228 you will never forgive yourself. We're talking about one of the greatest handguns ever made. So just say NO!!

Keep the 228, the reason besides it being a great gun is, because it is very hard to find 228s these days.

Are you nuts??? Of course not.

The only Sig I would trade a 228 for is a 229 in .40, and that would be a close call. The 228 is a far superior gun to the 239.

Run, don't walk to the nearest mental health clinic and have your head examined! At the very least, you probably are running a high fever and need some rest. ;)

KITT, another question like this and I will petition the web master to strip you of your senior member status:-) The P228 is a great pistol and I would not consider selling or trading mine. Regards, Richard.

Don't Do It.

But If you really have your heart set on getting rid of the 228 I will give you what the gun store will plus $50. Thats about half of what they cost new. So $400

The 9mm is more accurate to shoot, cheaper to buy ammo for, and more flexible than the .40 Keep the 228 and buy some ammo.

You might consider getting a G26 glock to keep the SIG company

If it was me, and I traded away a P228, I'd start kicking myself the next morning, and would keep on kicking myself until I got another P228 to replace it.

Keep the 228. I've had both the 228 and 239. The 228 is BETTER!

Get your 1911s and AR15s while you still can!

Never sell a good gun.

All together, now: Never sell a good gun!

You'll always regret it later. Save up for the new toy, but keep all the old stuff, no matter how bad you want the new.

KITT,

Why can't you own both? If its the money, the 239 .40 will most likely be around for a loooooooong time. Ask about layaway plans, or start your own savings, etc. Wife? hmm..thats a whole different ball park. Mine is pretty understanding, but others vary...

DON'T DO IT!!!

You'll regret it if you do.

Just start scrimping and scrounging - you'll be surprised how quickly you can come up with the $$$ (easpecially when it's for another Sig!).

This is NOT a difficult decision!!! :D KEEP
the P228; it's certainly one of the finest
9m/m's available, anywhere in the world. :)

The Sig P228 is a well-built and very popular pistol. Although they are still available in local guns shops in my area they are becoming harder to find. If you have one with the original 2 13 round mags, case, manual and you don't like it you certainly won't have a problem selling it.
Now would be the time to sell and buy what you really wanted.
....just another opinion.

I agree, if you want to sell a great gun like the 228(which may not make sense to us, but I understand the problem of not having an understanding wife), at least offer it to TFL members before trading it in. You will get a lot more for the gun, and will be helping out your fellow members as well. I'm sure there are a dozen of us willing to give you $100 more than the shop will and pay FFL/shipping.

I took a long and expensive road that started with a SIG Sauer only to end up with a SIG Sauer. Don't make my mistakes. Keep your P228. IMHO it's the finest compact 9mm in the world. It's balance, grip angle, feel in the hand, accuracy and reliability are tough to beat. See www.remtek.com/arms/sig/model/228/228.htm

As others have said, if you do decide to sell your P228 don't use it as a trade in at your shop. You'll get far below its market value. Advertise here and at www.sigforum.com Find a FFL and have him ship it to the buyer's FFL. You'll make more on your sale this way.

So many pistols, so little money.

Don't do it, man.

Use the 228 to knock over a liquor store then use the ill-gotten proceeds to buy the 239. But don't sell the 228! ;
