Do I need to buy a new pin or can I re-use?

I have noticed that Midway Germany has a HiViz pinned front FO sight for my 4" Ruger RH.

I'd like to buy it!!

I've been after an FO sight for some time. Rear would be nice too, but they don't seem to have one.

My question to anyone with one of these:
Can I reuse the sight pin?

If not, does the Hi Viz one come with one included?

If not, where can I expect to buy one?
Hardware store or must it be a Ruger spec item?

Thanks.

I reused the pin on my .327 blackhawk when I installed a HiViz front site. Just be sure to use the proper sized punch.

I reused my pin on my sp101.
If you needed a new one.... It's hard to say based on your location.

Do pins count as gun parts?

Here, I'd look for one either direct from Ruger, or maybe Brownells/MidWay, or even ebay.
If you had calipers and some time you could probably order the correct size roll pin from any one of a number of machinist supply places.

But it seems like it would be simpler to just be careful and re-use the pin.

If "RH" stands for Red Hawk, don't they still use the spring-loaded plunger to retain the front sight?

I had to go look at pictures... I guess it was a 4" thing.

My 7.5 and 5.5 both had the easily interchangeable sight.

The OEM pin can be reused, or replaced with a proper-size drill bit stem, ground to length.

If one goes the drill bit way, I would suggest using the bit of choice to re-drill the hole through both sight blade & ramp with the new sight blade held in plave (w/a small hand vise), before grinding the drill bit stem to length.
