Do I need a Slug Barrel?

I’m new to shotguns so bear with ... I have a Remington 870 Super Mag Express with a rifled barrel and adjustable choke. I want to shoot slugs so do I need a different barrel or will this do? Also what type of slug should I use? I’m looking for medium distance with good dropping power. Thanks in advance for any information.
 
Your rifled barrel was made to shoot sabot slugs.
You may find that the best sabot in the 12 bore to be Remington Buckhammers. Hastings and Brnneke make a good sabot also.
The super expensive Hornady SST as well as Remington and Winchesters Premium pistol bullets in sabots are disappointing.
I load the Hammerhead, the father of the Buckhammer.
My 870 express will give me 5 shots in one ragged hole at 75 yards.
I don't know what medium range is in your mind but B/h slugs should do fine out to 100.
